This is a great month!  Lots of things happening. Weddings, birthdays, school lets out, Father’s Day is celebrated, vacations start, local festivals and gatherings happen and the list goes on and on.

This month is going to be very busy for me.  I will need to get things situated for work as I will be heading to Anaheim, California after July 4th.  This is about 1 month away.  I will also need to get approximately 100 cards made for a greeting card swap and make my packing list, make sure I have all the necessary things to do Disneyland in style.  This will be the last time I go to California at least for 2 years.  Next year’s vacation will take place in Orlando, Florida where I will be at Disney World.  After that, it is still a secret.  I Love Secrets, Surprises, did I say Secrets?

My vacations center on the Close to My Heart Convention.  This is a wonderful time.  I so enjoy hooking up with people who have like hobbies, great artistic talent and know how to “think outside of the box” so to speak. This challenges me and my creativity.

So, without much ado, I will close here so that I can start of my lists and work situations.  Have a super start to your summer.  Until the next time……….

Thoughts on Memorial Day 2015

memorial day photo and verse

Spring is in full force these days.  The flowering trees are winding down their color displays, the grass is needing cut regularly and the temperatures are starting to even out.  The nights are still cool but the days are warming up to air conditioner weather.  Today is a very special day for me.  Not because it is Memorial Day, not because I have a day off work, not because it is a “me” day – but because I finally have come into what Memorial Day really is all about and how it affects my life.

I came up in the 1970’s, the Jane Fonda, draft desertion, post Woodstock days.  I was a very impressionable teenager.  My mother would attest to this.  Many a night we sat on the front porch or in the family room while she droned on and on about why my thinking was skewed or just plain wrong to her thinking.  This time only made me look deeper into myself and thinking.  She had no clue and I made her think that she was getting through to me.  (Except of course when I needed to push those buttons to make her respond – even if it was only to be mad at me.)  The brain of a teenager is so impressionable and malleable.

So, as I now live in a 57 year old body, with 57 years of learning first hand and 57 years of life’s experience under my belt, I can honestly say that I now feel what Memorial Day is all about.  Knowledge is one thing.  Incorporating that knowledge into my life via emotions has made me realize the true meaning of today.

I have seen many images regarding Memorial Day all over the internet and social media.  The above photo spoke to me in a way that the rest I saw did not.  It was originally posted on the Precious Moments web site.

I spoke earlier on how precious the Memorial Day service at my church, Lewis Avenue Baptist Church in Temperance, Michigan, has become to me.  This photo melds both areas of my life into one.  I believe God is in “it”, what ever “it” is.  Soldier’s deaths, Soldier’s sufferings, Soldier’s loss of their friends, and the recurrent memories that the Soldier’s have, are all included.

The Viet Nam War (did Congress ever admit that it was more than a conflict yet?) had a nasty connotation to it.  The soldiers were treated awful with their return to the country they suffered physically and endured losses for. This is the time frame that i spent the middle to latter part of my teenage years in.

Many a night, I sat up with friends and acquaintances just talking.  Those Soldiers would start to express themselves, purging or viewing their war events in a different light, all that they had been through – to a point.  None of them would open up past that invisible line.  It was like they felt free to discuss what they experienced up to a point, but not past that point.  None of them could tell me why.  Why they shut down, closed up, refused to talk any more, or why they changed the subject.

Given my experiences, pain is a huge deterrent.  So was it too painful for those Viet Nam War Soldiers to talk any more past their invisible line?  Was it so horrific that talking about the (unknown to me) topic was agonizing for them?  Were they directed by superiors to do that which they could not accept within themselves?  I probably will never know.

This made such an impression on me.  I have boxed it up and put it away.  Forever hidden – and yet not hidden, as it rears it’s ugly head every now and then.  I have friends now whose husbands are US Military Servicemen. My heart has re-awakened all those questions of years past.  I pray for all of my friends and their children, especially when I hear that their husbands are being deployed – yet again.

So, my message today is not original.  I did not “coin” it.  I did not create it.  However, I can finally say it from the bottom of my heart.

GOD BLESS THE SOLDIERS OF THE USA!!

May Flowers are in bloom Thanks to the April Rains!

Well 2015 continues to tick by, day by day.  The fifth month of the year has arrived.  My tulips are blooming and the Magnolia tree is full of blossoms!  It is so beautiful this year! (I know I say that every year, but it truly is beautiful this year!).  I love the color of the trees this time of year.  It is that special Spring Green that only lasts a couple weeks as the new leaves are developing.  This color is never seen again the entire year.

With May comes Cinco de Mayo, and have 2 Spanish as a first language son-in-laws. This is one day I better remember! My bucket list includes a trip to Mexico over a Cinco de Mayo celebration time period.  I bet it will be great – like New Orleans, LA over Mardi Gras.

Then another school year will come to a close for my son.  He will be entering his High School Junior year in August.  I remember the days when I never thought he would get into high school (with me having to “take him out” so to speak frequently) and here he is nearly half way through already.  Time continues to fly by!  I remember Mr. Morrissey and Mrs. Beaman consoling and supporting me during a few very difficult parental times when my son was in the early Elementary years.

Then there is Memorial Day to close out the month.  When my girls were young, this holiday meant a trip to Frankenmuth, MI for the weekend, with just me, myself and I.  A weekend get away for me as the girls would be spending the holiday with their father.  Now both of my daughters have children and husbands and very full, busy lives.

I no longer go to Frankenmuth over this weekend.  Instead I look forward to the celebration my church has, honoring the United States’ soldiers both in active duty and retired, and those that have given the ultimate sacrifice for my freedoms.  This service never gets old to me, even though it occurs every year.  God Bless the USA!!!

This month is also National Scrapbooking month.  For those of you who know me personally, it means more paper cuts, a depletion of my double stick tape and replacing my paper cutter blade a couple times.  I can not wait to get good and ink-y tomorrow, on National Scrapbook Day!  It is going to be a fun and productively relaxing day for me.

Enjoy your May and all that it has in store for you!  Before long it will be June and the temperatures will be rising.  Until the next time………

Hello April 2015

Hello friends and family!  April has arrived and spring is trying to stick around.  I think with all the wind we are having, Spring just keeps blowing in and blowing out.  No bother, the grass has finally greened up so to speak.  The Robins are back.  The snow is melted.  The rains have arrived.  Ah yes, Spring.

April is a huge month for my family.  My 3 children were born in April.  My husband’s birthday is in April.  1 of my 5 grand-children’s birthdays are in April.  Our anniversary is in April. (Oh my word, has it been 19 years already?)  I have 3 very close friends whose birthdays are in April. And then of course there is Easter, taxes, license plates for the vehicles, driver’s license renewal for me this year, and the list goes on and on.

Although I am a tad bit late with this posting, I wanted to share a photo that I received on Good Friday.  This is the epitome of what Easter means to me – He is not there, for He has risen as He said He would.

Empty tomb with three crosses on a hill side.

The Good Morning Girls site, that this photo came from, is awesome.  Courtney is very inspiring and I recommend all you fine folks to check out her site.  Good Morning Girls and Women Living Well are her joint sites and they are very inspiring.  Her web address is:  http://womenlivingwell.org/

Close to My Heart has a great special for this month too!  I love surprises and this monthly special fills that need.  Every day in the month of April, Close to My Heart has a special grab bag for sale.  All you have to do is order 1 regular priced item and then the grab bag is available for purchase to you.  The prices range from $35 – $150 and the value of the grab bag is between $70 and $325.  Check out my site here.  Scroll down to the bottom and on the right side is a “Join” button.  Click there and go shopping.  Great products and a super way to increase your supplies at a very reduced price.  Feel free to contact me either by the comments below, on my facebook page or by email at: marie.goetz@yahoo.com

Enjoy the Spring and all that it brings!

Until the next time…..

March already?

Well the snow continues to fall, the roads are a mess and March is coming in like a lion.  I sure hope that this means that it will go out like a lamb and SPRING will truly be here.

March is a great time to join my team as a Close to My Heart Consultant.

Close to My Heart introduced 2 new storage/carrying items recently.  I have them and love them!  They are so roomy and beautiful as well.

If you look at my March blog header picture you can see them.  Turquoise chevron print and a rich gray color is the design of both the shoulder bag and the rolling tote.   The shoulder bag has a roomy opening with zipper closing on the top, 2 gray handles and a pocket built inside the bag.  12″ x 12″ paper fits very comfortably without folding or bending it over.  The inside lining is sturdy as well.  A great value for $26.95.                                                                                                               The rolling tote holds a schloads of stuff!  As papercrafters, we are known for our stash.  I can carry all my ink pads, idea books, crafting tools, paper cutter, additional paper packs, stamp sets, markers, water color – colored pencils, several types of tape/glue and so forth in this tote without cramming or jamming stuff in it.  I could hardly believe what all I could carry in this tote compared to the ole Cropper Hopper XL tote.  This tote retails for $149.95.

The great news is that by joining my team during the month of March 2015 you can get the shoulder bag free.  If you sell $300 in 40 days you will get the tote free also.

There are 2 consultant kits to chose from, each tailored towards their specialty.

For the scrapbooker, there is the Scrapbooker’s Kit.

The card maker will enjoy the Cardmakers’s Kit.

Click on each of the kit titles to see what it contains.  Clear photos of the kits are at the links as well as a itemized list of items in each kit.  The Scrapbooker’s Kit is listed first with the Cardmaker’s Kit right below.  There are videos towards the bottom about Close to My Heart.  Then there is the link to click on to “Let’s get started” to sign up for my team.

The kit’s cost $99 each.  There is a total of over $370 worth of product in each kit.

Chose one to become part of my team, get your free shoulder carrying bag and potentially earn the Rolling Tote for free as well (with $300 sales in 40 days).

Additional benefits when you become a consultant and sell the $300 include:      1. 22% discount on the Close to My Heart products (savings of $66!)
2. Hostess Rewards of $40 in FREE Products and a 1/2 price item!
3. $5 Select Product Credit (which can be accrued for a year!)

Then when you sell $1200 in 90 days of signing to be a consultant, the $99 dollar kit will be reimbursed to you in your commission check!  So, you can get the $370+ kit for free, a Rolling Tote and Shoulder Carrying Bag, commission as well as free and 1/2 price products by selling $1200 in 90 days.

March 2015 special for consultants

I would love for you to join my team!  Feel free to contact me or comment below with a method to reach you, and I can answer your questions.

If you have ever considered direct sales in the paper crafting industry, Close to My Heart is the company to work for!  They are a great company that takes super care of their consultants.

My website is here.  Take a look around at the Close to My Heart products available.  Then decide to join my team!  We have fun, share ideas and techniques and create in our own styles and fashions!  Welcome!

2015 is Here! — Happy New Year

Tags

, ,

Welcome to 2015!  It has arrived like a lamb, quickly changing into a lion, or should I saw rabid polar bear?   Batten down the hatches and bring in the fire wood.  It is going to be a cold one folks!

So has everyone made their resolutions for this new year?  How about new goals?  Seems like goals would be easier than resolutions albeit they are very similar.  I have been kicking around all kinds of goals – spiritual goals, work related goals, husband and children/grandchildren related goals, general life related goals, and my papercrafting goals.  I think I will take all year to fine tune these goals, accomplishing all that I can this year.

Seems as if with the changing of the year, my son is all the more closer to graduation.  This is a good thing on both hands, but on one foot, it means I need to get my double stick tape and scissors into gear!  I have completed his school scrapbook through 4th grade, part of 5th grade and part of 6th grade.  I gotta get going!  Graduation will be here before I know it!

So I would like to wish each and everyone of you a Blessed and safe New Year!  Stand tall, strong, and mighty for your beliefs and do not let the evil one waiver you one iota!

Feel free to leave a comment.  Tell me about your 2015 resolutions or goals.

Until the next time……..

I feel Him with me today big time and hope you do so too.

Thank you to everyone sharing their “Merry Christmas” wishes in all forms of media and in person!  I wish the same back to each and every one of you along with prayers for health, happiness and safety in the seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years to come!

John 1;29

Of all the media wishes I received, this photo with Holy Bible verse, from Hobby Lobby had a huge impact on me.  I want to share it with all of you and hope you can see the multiple layers of this photo and vast meaning of the verse.

Until we connect again………

And the Year 2014 keeps rolling away…..

Hello and welcome to December.  My oh my is there a ton of stuff happening this time of year.  Shopping, oh yes there is shopping.  Wrapping, and wrapping and wrapping.  That is unless you have done as myself and copped out.  I now use Christmas bags made of a vinyl/plastic combination.  I tell myself I am preserving the natural resources i.e. trees, but to be perfectly honest, I am saving time and energy. (This getting old is for the birds!)

As if the holidays are not a huge part of this time of year, there is making time and coordinating schedules with friends and family.  This can be kind of tricky in these crazy busy times, but I make it a priority.

And then there is the end of the year stuff between Christmas and New Years.  And what do I mean.  Closing out billing for work, and personal tax preparations to go the the tax guy on time.  Ugh!

Then I have to think about what resolution(s) I plan to make and how long I will keep it until I break it.  Usually it lasts less than 24 hours.   Maybe this year will be different.  After all, resolutions are so that we can improve as a person, right?  Oh the change is so hard!  Even if it is beneficial.

Oh and then there is the money bag.  Yes Grandma, that one is for you!  Tradition in my family includes making a money bag right after the 112 midnight chime on the clock between New Years Eve and New Years Day.  What is a money bag?  It is a holder of sorts for an unknown amount of loose coins.  The key is that it needs to be unknown.  In days gone by, I have had stiched pouches from fabric scraps of my favorite outfit that my mother made for me.  Today, I fold up a kleenex and fill it and then tape it closed.  Not just closed.  I run tape all the way around it to seal it from the world and myself (so it is not so easy to get into!) The purpose of the money bag is to keep from going broke all year.  Yes, by having a brand new, created and filled as the new year starts, I will not be broke all that year.  Does it work?  Well, let’s just say I do not want to take a chance that it might.

Seriously though, all superstitions aside, I like to do it because I feel closer to what was fun and what I looked forward to when I was a child.  These were the days of innocence that are long gone.  Harsh real life realities have taken over, as occurs with all post childhood people. (For some that is in their late teens or early 20’s.  For others, well, let’s just say, they have not reached it yet and they are in their 50’s and older  🙂  )  Is not traditions the fun part of the holidays?

Since I have matured, gotten past the childhood stage, and feel some days like I am rapidly slipping into the later adulthood years, (second childhood?  Maybe!) it seems that tradition is more and more important to pass on.  Things like baking Jesus a birthday cake, making cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning breakfast, putting tooth brushes in the stockings, and writing out the thank you cards to snail mail to the generous people that have given me gifts.

OK, so this it the tech-y age.  (My son is shaking his head back and forth faster than a wet dog after reading the snail mail part.)  Time to move on.  I just can not get past the snail mail card versus the quickie email.  The quickie email just seems so impersonal.

So, onto the most important part of this time of year.

Jesus.

Not just his birthday cake, but the whole ReaSon for the SeaSon!  I just heard today that Jesus was born so he could die for us.  Think about that.  Being born with the sole purpose of dying.  And He was not dying for Himself, He was dying for me and you.  I started thinking about that, and started crying.  Yep.  Coming back from Fort Wayne on this dreary, overcast, gray day, driving east on US 24 and crying.  (Wasn’t that a pretty site!)  Now I know that Jesus has saved my soul from everlasting torture and damnation.  But to think, that He came here, lived for 33 perfect years in this fallen world, just so He could go through all the pain, torture and agony physically as well as the emotional toll it had to have taken as well, for people like me and you that had not even been thought of yet.  (2000+ years is a lot of great’s before the grandparents part.)  And to make this even more unbelievable, during the time Jesus lived, the Gentile people were a second class citizen so to speak.  So to recap:  Jesus is created, gets born, lives in a corrupt world, and then dies for a second class person like me.   WOW!!!!!

Why would he do this?  One word.  Love.  Yepper.  That’s it.  As we are all familiar with John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that who so ever believes in Him, should not parish, but have everlasting life.”  (No torture and damnation!  Wooooo Whooooooo! )

So this is the time of year, the SeaSon if you will, when it all starts.  It may temporarily end on Easter, but the blessing starts NOW!

So, lets all join in now, make up our minds to look for the blessing and not the “stuff” that this seaSon brings, to cut out that which stresses us to the max (like getting the wrapping done) and kick back, enjoy the traditions that make us feel all warm and fuzzy like when we were children.  Then hit the floor with our knees and thank God for the biggest, most generous gift of all:  His Son!

I have something to share with all of you.  It was shared with me first.  It is a You Tube video, little over 5 minutes long.  There are many versions to this, but this version is, in my opinion, the supreme version.  The works are printed below the video too.  Enjoy and God bless you and yours during this seaSon and always.

Until the next time……

Cloverton Hallelujah

Published on Dec 21, 2013

I’ve heard about this baby boy
Who’s come to earth to bring us joy
And I just want to sing this song to you
It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
With every breath I’m singing Hallelujah
Hallelujah

A couple came to Bethlehem
Expecting child, they searched the inn
To find a place for You were coming soon
There was no room for them to stay
So in a manger filled with hay
God’s only Son was born, oh Hallelujah
Hallelujah

The shepherds left their flocks by night
To see this baby wrapped in light
A host of angels led them all to You
It was just as the angels said
You’ll find Him in a manger bed
Immanuel and Savior, Hallelujah
Hallelujah

A star shown bright up in the east
To Bethlehem, the wisemen three
Came many miles and journeyed long for You
And to the place at which You were
Their frankincense and gold and myrrh
They gave to You and cried out Hallelujah
Hallelujah

I know You came to rescue me
This baby boy would grow to be
A man and one day die for me and you
My sins would drive the nails in You
That rugged cross was my cross, too
Still every breath You drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Are you kidding me?  I can not believe were are 5 1/2 weeks from 2015.  Already!  Where has this year gone?  Well, although it is still Autumn I am sure you are all tired of looking at my header by now.  I will change it up a bit, keeping the same color scheme.  After all, it is still fall; until 12/20/2014 at least.

As the months go by, Close to my heart continues to have it’s monthly specials.        This month is Studio J month.

studioj-artworkstudioj_logo

What that means is, the digital scrapbooking system that Close to My Heart has for scrapbookers, cardmakers, and digital photo printers is on special for this month.  Two  12″ x 12″ pages of whatever you want to have printed is only $5.95 per 2 pages.  That is a $2 discount.  This is in celebration of Studio J’s 5th birthday!  It has revolutionized and speed-ed up the scrapbooking process.  Pick your paper, pick your layout, upload your photos and drop them into the boxes you want, add your digital embellishments that print out looking 3D and voila:  2 page lay out: done.  The pictures resize automatically to whatever size your box is, from 2″ x2″ to 12″ x 12″.  This is a great tool to add to the usual paper cutting and gluing that we all know and love.

SOTM - November USThe November Stamp of the Month is very versatile as well.  Leave the images as they are stamped or layer them.  Great for any kind of card:  Thinking of You, Just Because, Friends, Happy Birthday, Thank You or Sympathy.  Use fall colors or spring colors or the rich bright summer hues.  You can even create your own embellishments, saving money for those Black Friday to Cyber Monday purchases. The attached picture shows a 6″ x 6″ wall hanging (small picture) completed with the images you can stamp with this set.  There is a card image using this stamp set next to the wall hanging.  You can have this stamp set for $5 with a $50 purchase or for $17.95 bought by itself.  Just click on my website:

October already??

Tags

, , , , ,

I can hardly believe that it is already October.  School is under way for my 16 year old with the first quarter more than half over.  The leaves are changing and these rich fall colors are the blessing behind the reality of the cooler days and nights.   My “personal summers” aka hot flashes are much more bearable these days.  (The fall winds tend to dry the sweat a little quicker it seems.)

On a different note, Close to my Heart is having a new campaign this month.  Free chevron patterned ribbon in either a red or navy color.  The technical color names are Ruby and Outdoor Denim.  These retail for $6.95 per roll.  When you spend $50 in Close to my Heart product, you will get the ribbon as a free bonus.  With the $50.00 purchase, you can also select the October stamp of the month titled “Home for the Holidays” for $5.00.  This stamp set retails for $17.95 without the qualifying $50.00 purchase and can be purchased during October only at the $17.95 price if you wish.

The ribbon and stamp set would be great for your 2014 Christmas card designs that are mulling around in the creative portion of your brain.  The possibilities are endless.  I have included a pull out style card that I created using this stamp set.  This card has room to attach a wallet size photo or gift card if you choose.

Well enjoy the cooler days and nights and God’s colorful masterpiece as the leaves change and harvest approaches.

Until the next time………………..  Marie1410-cc-ribbon-revelry-us_ca10526141_10204527877023173_8592475311849758720_nWP_20140830_001WP_20140830_002WP_20140830_003
