Everything ABC’s Letter “C”

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop! For this hop we will be featuring the letter “C”. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “C” element will be featured in their post. If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Linda’s blog ~ Scrappy Therapy. If you came from  Catherine Nowak at Catscrapbooking –  then you’re on the right track!

Well as easy as “B” was for me, “C” was that much of a Challenge.  It was not for lack of options.  Close to My Heart has 2 paper packs, Confetti Wishes and Chalk It Up that would have worked well.  Then there is the My Crush books, 48 Cardstiock colors, 4 Cricut Cartridges with their coordinating stamp sets, all kinds of “C” size stamp sets and Congratulations sentiments.  It was my stunted Creativity that presented the Challenge.

So I chose to do 2 two page layouts:  one with each of the paper packs, using CardStock as the base pages for both layouts.  I love these paper pack colors!  It is so nice to see the industry moving back to colors. Close to My Heart (CTMH) is right on track with the paper crafting industry’s releases at the latest CHA event this month in California!  And to think that CTMH released these paper packs back in August 2014 with the new Annual Inspirations catalog.

My first 2 page layout showcases the Confetti Wishes paper pack.  At first glance this looks really girly.  With the Thistle and Canary colors.  It is also a “Birthday’ paper or “Celebration” paper pack.  Well, by using the back side of the paper (all of CTMH printed papers are printed on both sides) I was able to change this up and make it boyish paper.  I used this for my grandson’s birth, his original Birthday!

I love this layout for lots of wallet size photos.  The pattern is from Jeanette Lynton’s Magic paper crafting pattern book.

The title was stamped in Crystal Blue Ink, right onto the Canary Cardstock.  The right bottom corner of the left page has a triple matted sentiment also stamped in Crystal Blue Ink.  The left bottom corner has another sentiment stamped with Flaxen Ink to give it a golden hue.  This is a bit difficult to see in the photo and I apologize for that.

The right side page has 3 Memory Protectors Flip Flaps on it.  I love these little miracles!  You can display so many more photos on your pages, burying the ones that are not as artistic but just as precious, at first glance.

I did not open them all the way up as this blog is big time “G” rated and the photos underneath are of my grandson in his birthday suit.   The third Memory Protectors Flip Flap is part of the “Hayden Jacob laying on his side” photo.

The final detail is the triple stamped “Happy Birthday” on the right side.  I used the primary colors in the Cardstock mats on the left side page, stamping directly onto the Canary Cardstock.

My second 2 page layout uses the Chalk It Up paper pack.  This also has a great color combination to it.  It is primarily for school or achievement layouts.  I used this for my grand-daughters 4 year old Kindergarten Graduation and the program from that celebration photos.

Chalk It Up layout 1

The program was The Little Red Hen and all the children in the classroom were part of the play.  Note the Chicks (another “C”) in the foreground.

I stamped the star-burst directly on the Lagoon Cardstock using Smokey Plum Ink.  This gave the image a black color to it.  Part of the stamped images are directly onto the photos.

I then added the new Chalk It Up Assortment of Puffy Stickers to the center of the stamped stars.  The right side page has these fun Puffy Stickers in the shape of miniature tickets.  There are also Puffy Sticker eyeglasses and flowers in this set.

To finish off the star-burst image, I stamped the Great Job Banner in Flaxen Ink on White Daisy Cardstock, fussy cut it out and applied it to the layout with 3D foam tape.

Thank you for stopping by!  I enjoyed being able to share 2 of my 5 grandchildren with you, using Close to My Heart’s fabulous products.

  3. Both layouts are wonderful – Charming. I especially like the use of flip flaps. hiding the PG photos. great way to get extra photos in the layout. How does it work with the page protectors? do you put them on the outside? or cut a slit? I also like the use of the multi-color mat on the first layout.

    • Hi Darlys I always put the flip laps on top of the page protectors. I do not have a very steady hand and do not trust myself to place the slit. I actually got 35 photos (all different sizes and shapes on 1 album page I did for my son-in-law’s mother. The page was peaceful to look at-not a jumbled up or over stuffed with photos feeling. Love these flip flaps!!!
